can't get it started right!

I am not new to crochet, but I have had to rip out this scarf numerous times and I still can't get it right. I think I need a chart for it to make sense to me. I hate to not give it 5 stars, will keep trying to make it work.

Lovely Scarf Pattern

Haven't had time to start yet but have read through the patter and seems very straight forward and easy to follow.
